How to Add a Remote Printer to your Computer

Problem:If you have 2 Computers and only one Printer what will you do to Print a document from a computer to which Printer is not connected?

For Example: If you want to print an important document and you are on your Laptop which doesn’t have a printer connection, What will you do? Attach the USB Cable of the Printer to Laptop and search for the drivers CD?

Solution: If your Home is connected with a Wired or Wireless Network, You can do things more easily. Actually very easily. You can print documents from Remote computer which is in your Network.

How to Add a Remote Printer

#0. Switch on the Computer to which Printer is connected.
#1. Click on Start then on Control Panel.

#2. In Control Panel you can see, Hardware and Sound click on it then on Add a Printer.
#3. Click on Add a Network, Wireless or a Bluetooth Printer.

#4. If your Printer is shared then, you’ll see it immediately.

#5. Click Next, Printer will be added to your Computer. If you can’t find the Printer you are searching for, Jump to How to Add a Printer that isn’t listed.

Alternatively:
#1. Click on Start and then on Run (Windows + R).
#2. Type the IP Address of the Print Server.

#3. If there is a password set to the Computer, the you’ll be prompted to enter the password.
#4. After entering the Password, You can see the all the Directories and Devices shared by the Computer.
#5. Double Click on the Printer icon, Then the Printer Drivers will be installed on your Computer.

How to Add a Printer that isn’t listed

#1. Follow the same procedure upto step #3.
#2. Now click on The Printer I want isn’t listed.

#3. Then choose Select a shared Printer by name and click Browse.

#4. You’ll see the name of the Computer to which Printer is connected then select that computer name and enter Password if prompted.

How to Share a Printer

#1. Just go to the Print Server (The Computer to which Printer is connected).
#2. Click on Start and type, Share Printer.
#3. Then you’ll be asked to what things to be shared.
#4. Then put a check to Printers.
#5. You are done.

#0. Switch on the Print Server and the Printer.
#1. After editing the document, Click on Print.
#2. Select the Remote Printer from the List.
#3. Click on Print.
#4. You are done.
